As a blogger, my goal is to give college students access to tips and encouragement for working out on a crazy schedule and with limited access to healthy food. These blogs all tackle different parts of the college fitness struggle. Whether their focus is on food, lifting or body positivity, these are some of my go-to sites for fresh ideas and inspiration for my own fitness journey.
- Liv Bane, senior at University of North Carolina
Healthy Liv is all about making easy, healthy food accessible to college students. Liv posts tons of simple recipes, many of which can easily be recreated in a dorm room, such as her 4-Ingredient Peanut Butter Energy Bites. She also posts recipes that can be made in bulk in a dorm kitchen to last all week!
As an avid long-distance runner, Liv posts about her fitness goals and how she tries to stay mentally and physically healthy while also staying on top of schoolwork and her social life.
Liv’s blog is easy to navigate, with distinctive tabs for recipes, health and fitness, college and blogging in the navigation bar. She posts about once a week and is my go-to for ways to spice up my morning oatmeal or tips on making running more interesting!
- Jeremy, personal trainer
Student’s Fitness addresses some of the common obstacles students face as they try to work out and stay healthy at school. This blog has specific workouts and suggestions for the most effective ways to work out when you’re stretched thin by classes and other commitments.
Jeremy combines work out videos with tips on what common mistakes to avoid and breaks down each exercise so they’re simple to replicate! Jeremy breaks up his posts with lots of large headers, links to relevant pages, pictures and lists.
- Sophie Summers, 24-years-old, married
Sophie is at a slightly different place in life than most college students, but The Fitness Junkie Blog still puts out content that I love and can relate to! A hallmark of her blog is her fitness and weight loss product reviews, where she tries out everything from hyped-up supplements to entire workout programs, separating the trends from the traps.
Sophie’s blog features a wide range of health-related topics, and she preaches honesty and straightforwardness as she dishes on her own experiences and the fitness advice she lives by. She’s branded herself as someone whose opinion on products can be trusted and who truly embodies the lifestyle she preaches!
